    Bahamas Work Visa

Bahamas Work Visa application is a hassle-free process with Tetra Consultants’ assistance. Read on to find out how.

The Bahamas has always been a popular destination for financial services firms looking for a business-friendly jurisdiction, with financial services being the second largest contributors to the country’s Gross Domestic Product. With tourism being the biggest contributor, the country offers visa-free travel to many countries in facilitation of this. However, those looking to conduct certain business activities or seeking gainful employment will need to apply for a Bahamas work visa instead. Similarly, certain countries do not have visa-free travel arrangements with The Bahamas, hence their residents will also need to apply for a pass regardless of what activity they seek to undertake.

Tetra Consultants will go through the types of work visas, when you would need one, and how you can go about applying for one. The process can be hassle-free if you know how. With Tetra Consultants at the wheel, you will be able to dedicate your time and resources to other more important business channels.

With our lean-and-mean mentality, you can rely on our team of experts to provide you a seamless experience throughout the whole process. Our ultimate goal is for your visas to be obtained within the stipulated time frame.

When do you need a Bahamas Work Visa?

    • If your country of residence is on this list of countries with visa-free travel arrangements, you will qualify as a business visitor and thus not need to apply for a Bahamas work visa to enter the country. This is assuming that you are not working within the country or performing any other professional activity.

List of countries with visa-free travel arrangements

    • As mentioned earlier, Bahamas offers free travel to many countries, with most of the major European, Asian, African and Latin American countries being granted it alongside the United States and Canada. Notable members on this list include:
      • Singapore
      • China
      • Hong Kong
      • United Kingdom
      • Germany
      • France

What activities can business visitors carry out?

    • Business activities that are unpaid are allowed to be carried out. This includes attending business meetings and conferences, networking, and learning and development.

What activities require a Bahamas Work Visa?

    • Work authorization will be needed if these activities are considered as work or other professional activities. Such activities include project planning and implementation, marketing, or auditing. In this case, even if your country is on the list of countries with visa-free travel arrangements, you will need to apply for a Bahamas work visa in order to legally carry out such activities. Every foreigner that wants to work or conduct professional activities in The Bahamas is required to apply for the visa as no country is exempt from this requirement.

    Types of Bahamas Work Visa

    Short Term Work Permit

    • Such permits allow a non-Bahamian to work in The Bahamas for a duration between 1 to 90 days. Such permits are usually only used for one-off, emergency purposes and should not be constantly reapplied for to extend one’s stay.

    Long-Term Work Permit

    • These are for the same purpose but are for those who are looking to do so for a period lengthier than 90 days. Such permits are valid for up to a year, and must be renewed two months before expiry.

The Bahamas Extended Access Travel Stay (BEATS) Program

    • With the rise of COVID-19, many employers and educational institutions have opted for remote working or virtual learning. The Bahamian government has thus come up with the BEATS program announced in the news, to accommodate such workers or students that are looking for a change in environment. Each successful applicant will be valid for a year and can be renewed for up to a maximum period of three years.
    • If you are unsure of what type of visa you require to operate your business, feel free to contact us for a non-obligatory consultation. Our team of experts will revert within the next 24 hours.
